Tupelo Honey Playlist 8/11/09

Do you know The Bottle Rockets? They've been around for what seems like eternity, churning out a lot of albums and a few good songs. Well, they've just released what has to be their masterpiece. It's called Lean Forward.

They've managed to do something I've never seen done successfully in this genre: they took the twang out of their sound and made a pure rock record. Usually everything that makes a band interesting goes out the window once they take out the pedal steel or banjo or mandolin or chord progression or song writing or whatever it is that gives them a twangy sound. Not so with this incredible hard-driving new release. Definitely one to add to your collection.

Till Next Week
Ciao
